a much better session than the last. much much better.
uh huh. again played bowling at starbowl, at textile center.
haiz. gonna miss tt plc when it cease to run its bowling alleys.
ok. when the momentum, and the enthusiasm is still there, imma do da long long overdue bowling assessment, asked to be done by our dear sifu (afiq) some time back.. kehkehekhe.
different lanes will tend to have different conditions set upon them, and yes, different lane has its own different quality abt them. be it the oiling on the surface or the material of the surface itself. it all matters. for example, the oiling may affect on how well, or intensive the curve of a hook ball may be.
thus for the bowler's part, he has to ascertain on how best he can get the ball to strike the pins completely. this is done by taking note of how he positions himself, how he throws the ball. basically, the overall technique. and the bowler has to learn to adapt to these changes as necessary, so tt he can rack up a consistent performance to get the maximum pts possible. alah. mcm carik g-spot gitu lah. haha
for me, at starbowl, since the lanes are quite new, and still "fresh", it provides an easier condition to contend bowlers with. unlike victorbowl at marina, which has lanes tt are quite heavily oiled due to its extensive usage over a period of time.
ok. at starbowl, from what i realised juz now, a better performace from me would require these:
positioning, the outside of my right leg will haf to rest on the middle arrow.
throw, to haf the bowl aimed at the arrow 2nd from the right. also, i realise its better for me to releasing it in mid-air. by doing so, my curving hook of the ball will be juz nice to reach tt "pocket". if i were to release the ball nearer to the grd, somehow, my curl will curl so much so tt it wont even reach the first pin, and then end up kissing the longkang.
also regarding throw, i think its safe for me to establish myself as a hooker rather than a spinner, which i was before this informal bowling trainin sessions became more regular. i was a natural spinner. first time i throw the bowling bowl in jc, i was told i was one. the coach told me. thus, from then on, i didnt pay the tecnique of hooking much attention.
but thanx to afiq, i realised tt hooking the ball is a much better option for me. as it covers more areas than a spinned ball. and also, the chances of the ball striking all the pins are higher than if i were to spin the ball. anywayz, at tt pt of time, my spinning technique aint tt consistent. thus, i decided to give hooking the ball a chance. and thanx to his guidance, i can safely say i can hook it decently enuf. its juz tt, i haf to make my technique more consistent.
abt hooking the ball, not much of a problem.
things i shud take note of, to exert more power when hooking, so tt the ball wont curl itself into oblivion. and also, abt the throwing the ball mid air. my arm strength is abit of a problem for me, so i gotta work on tt area.
juz now, afiq advised me to bend lower when releasing the ball. make it more accurate, he said. personally, didnt really see much of a diff, but as he's coach, and he knows better abt bowling, i think its best tt i juz adhere to his tip.
also, regarding spares.
positioning of the bowler is important as to how he deals with his spares. if theres a spare pin on the right, he shud postion himself more to the left. and vice versa. tts for me at least.
last not least, the psychological aspect of doing well in bowling.
one great tip, always maintain a cool head and attitude during the course of play. negative thoughts shud always be steered away. and always adopt a relaxed attitude. and maintain a nonchalant stance, even after throwing a bad shot. a great help would be talking w ppl, instead of juz letting oneself be frustrated wit himself. which i used to tend to do when i was bowling.
also, after every throw, reflect deeply how did it go wrong. sometimes, it may due to juz a random fall of concentration for u to break a winning game. which i did during my first games juz now. perhaps, i was too excited abt beating my sifu tt i throwed the last throw badly. haha.
another time perhaps. ;)
